Blitzkrieg Era

All the different Types of Tanks used in WWII
This fourth volume in the “Mechanised Warfare in Colour” series covers one of the most momentous periods in the history of the tank—1939-41 —which saw the opening of World War II with the German invasion of Poland, fol-lowed in 1940 by the Panzer attack through the Low Countries and France during which the term “Blitzkrieg” came into common use. Later, In 1940, the war spread to North Africa, an ideal arena for armoured strategy, and then, in 1941, came Operation Barba- rossa, the great German armoured assault on Russia.
The most important A.F.V.s of the principal countries at war during this period—Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy and the U.S.S.R.—are included here (as well as some of their more interesting experimental models) together with representative tanks and armoured cars of Poland, Czecho-slovakia, Flolland, Belgium and the neutral countries of Sweden, Eire and, until the end of 1941, the U.S.A.
B. T. White, renowned for his numerous books on A.F.V.s, has written a factual, informative text, describing each vehicle in a concise, lively style, which is well comple-mented by John Wood’s 160 detailed colour illustrations.
