Published in London by Blackie & Son Ltd., no date, circa 1925, first edition. This book measures 10 1/4 x 8 and is unpaginated, approximately 125 pages. It is in Very Good-Near Fine condition with some soiling and wear to the boards and spine and with light foxing to the endpapers. There are twenty, full-page, color illustrations by John Hassall. These are all in solid Fine condition and include a two-page illustration, Cinderella Enters the Coach (please see image #1 below for a fragment). The text is several classic fairy tales (e.g., Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Jack the Giant-killer, Three little Pigs, Puss in Boots, Jack and the Bean-stalk, Hop o my Thumb, Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp, Ali Baba and the Fourty Thieves, Sleeping Beauty, etc.). There is no former owners bookplate inside, no writing inside, and all pages are firmly attached to the very solid spine. Line drawings by John Hassell. This is a great book for those cold winter nights, just let your children read and enjoy the old pantomime stories come alive, enjoy.
