*At this point I saw 3 cyclists approaching along a footpath, near the top of Cadair Idris they pasted us, still riding their mountain bikes. We could hardly believe our eyes, as we approached the summit the same riders started their decent.
We were out on Cadair Idris finding Wainwright’s Snowdonia In Photos – 101 Viewpoints and Walks published in 2011 by © Mumfordbooks.com
121 pages in full colour viewpoints photographs, based on Alfred Wainwrights original mountain outline sketches all within “The Snowdonia National Park”. Each viewpoint was found and recorded by 10 professional photographers. Some views where near the roadside, others after 5 miles of hard walking.

Enjoy the beauty, but don’t forget the countryside code.

We could hardly believe our eyes, as we approached the summit the same riders started their decent. I quickly held my camera and managed to capture in a few seconds their quick decent. The skill of these cyclists had to be admired, not once did they stop and quickly despaired.
My Starting Point: From Dolgellau a minor road takes you south west of the town towards Cadair Idris. It is signposted from the town. Follow the road and you have a choice of parking along either at the Gwernan Hotel & Public House, (limited car park) or further along at the larger National, metered car park on the right-hand side. It is at least a 3 hour journey up to the summit and back. From the National Car Park entrance is a path opposite known as the Pony Track which you can follow up to the summit of Cadair Idris. The walk is steady climb all the way and turning round at various points will give beautiful

My viewpoint was 99 Walk east until you pass the cairns and there is a steep slope down northwards towards the shores of Llyn y Gadair. From the most northerly point of the lake, look back and see the cliffs of Pen y Gadair behind you. Check the
weather before setting out – Cadair Idris is notorious for hill fog
