70 years ago the a press release stating that Lts. Harold E.Comstock and Roger Dyar had exceeded the speed of sound (590 mph) during test dives in the P-47 Thunderbolt.(1942). It is also reported that once the speed of sound is exceeded, this condition disappears and normal control is restored, this is now not a problem.
