This photograph is taken from the Anglesey side, looking towards the mainland on the 20/08/24. A London and North Western Railway caution sign is a warning to trains to slow down when crossing the bridge. You can see the smoke stains above the tube entrances, and in 1970 another 50 years flames will destroy these same tubes. A new twin steel arch and road decking replaced the old tubes. Converting this railway bridge built by Robert Stephenson in 1850 to a modern road and railway and re-opened in 1980. Has an small crease when originally glued to mounting board. Very rare to find a dated photograph from this period. Typed Label: BRITANNIA TUBULAR BRIDGE – SOUTH VIEW 20/8/24
